What happens after you schedule a call? We talk about why you are planning and work through the decisions. I prepare the documents, review them with you, coordinate the signing, and help you identify the assets that should be connected to the trust.

First, we have a free 30-minute call

Tell me what prompted you to plan, who is in your family, and what is already on your mind. I will explain the process and tell you whether I can help. You do not need an asset inventory or a list of documents before the call.

Next, we make the decisions

The planning meeting is where most of the important work happens. We discuss guardians, trustees, beneficiaries, incapacity decision-makers, distribution terms, and the other issues that apply to your family. I explain what each choice does as we go.

Some decisions are easy. Others may need more thought after the meeting. I’ll be clear about what you have decided and what is still open.

Then I draft the plan and review it with you

I prepare the documents your plan needs and review them with you. You can ask questions and confirm that they reflect your decisions. I then coordinate the witnesses, notarization, and other formalities required for signing.

If you have a deadline, say so on the first call. When your information and decisions are ready, I can often move quickly.

After signing, we identify the assets that need attention

Signing a trust does not automatically put an account or a house into it. Your fee includes a meeting with me to identify the assets and beneficiary arrangements that should be coordinated with the trust. Deed preparation and recording are separate work; if you need them, I will explain the work and quote the fee before I begin.

After I finish the agreed work

The engagement ends after I deliver the agreed work. I may invite you to an annual check-in, but that invitation does not mean that I still represent you. If your family, assets, or the law has changed, you can return to me and we can agree to a new or expanded engagement.

Have a question about your own plan?

The introductory call with me is free and takes 30 minutes. Tell me what prompted you to plan; you do not need to know which documents you need before you book.
